Why Trade-offs Are Steering Industrial AI
A software heuristic and a hand catching a frisbee are running the same trick: skip the perfect calculation, grab the first answer that is good enough, fast. This piece uses that idea, plus hill-climbing, simulated annealing, and a Mona Lisa built out of triangles, to argue that industrial AI runs on trade-offs, not optimality — and that digital transformation is really just organizations getting deliberate about the trade-offs they used to make by accident.
